Mangala Gowri Vratha Pooja

मंगला गौरी व्रत पूजा

The rite

Mangala Gowri Vratha Pooja is observed by married women who worship Goddess Gauri on Tuesdays of Shravana or other months, seeking well-being for their husbands and household steadiness. In Bengaluru, many North Indian families want the full story, kalasha, and sixteen-step worship led at home rather than learning from videos alone. Pandit Mrityunjay Sharma guides the vratha katha and puja order while respecting your community’s Shravana or Kartik customs. Samagri for the toran, blouse piece, and naivedya is listed on WhatsApp before the Tuesday you choose.

Time at the house: About 2–3 hours on Tuesday morning or evening

Pandit Mrityunjay Sharma does this at the house in Bengaluru. The fee is not printed on this page. It is sent on WhatsApp with the material list.

Why families book it

Women book this when they are newly married and continuing a mother’s tradition, or when a husband has faced health or travel stress and the family wants a structured Tuesday vratha. It also helps groups of sisters-in-law who wish to do the same vidhi together in one home with one pandit leading.

The vratha expresses care and faith; it does not assure a specific lifespan or cure. Panditji narrates the katha in Hindi or simple English so younger members understand the symbolism of the blouse piece and cucumber offering.

When families ask

  • Tuesdays of Shravana month when Mangala Gowri is traditionally observed
  • When a daughter-in-law begins the vratha in her new home after marriage
  • If elders ask for a Tuesday puja after a spouse’s illness or long travel
  • When friends arrange a joint vratha in one Bengaluru apartment
  • On a nominated Tuesday outside Shravana if your family calendar allows

Questions

Is this only for married women?

The vratha is traditionally for married women. Unmarried girls sometimes join prasad; Panditji clarifies sankalpa on WhatsApp.

Can men be in the room during the puja?

Usually women lead the vratha; men may sit quietly at the back or in another room per family comfort.

Do we fast until the puja ends?

Many vratin take fruits or water until prasad. Panditji aligns with your health needs.

Is Shravana mandatory?

Tradition favours Shravana Tuesdays, but some families observe other months. Confirm with elders when booking.

How is this different from Mangala Gowri Vratham anusthan?

This page is the puja-led home version on the vratha day. The separate vratham listing may include extended vows—mention your plan when booking.

Can we use a Gauri photo instead of a silver face?

Yes. Turmeric Gauri or a picture is common in city homes.

What if Tuesday is a working day?

Evening slots are possible. Book early so building rules for lamps are clear.
